Microsoft 365 Agent Toolkit - Building OnboardingBuddy part 2
Debug your machine before you debug your code.
Before writing a single line for Onboarding Buddy, I wanted to know if my machine was even ready. It turns out the CLI has a command for exactly that:
atk doctorWill result in the following output if your tool chain is up to date and all the necessary tools are installed.
(√) Done: Microsoft 365 Account (your-account@onmicrosoft.com) is signed in and custom app upload permission is enabled.
(√) Done: Node.js version (v22.9.0) is installed.
(√) Done: Azure Functions Core Tools version (4.0.1) is installed.
(√) Done: Local Certificate is found and is trusted. It checks the following prerequisites for building Microsoft 365 apps/agents:
- Your Microsoft 365 account
- The Node.js version installed on your machine
- Azure Functions Core Tools (didn't know you needed this)
- The local development certificate
Each one gets a clear pass or fail so you know what to fix before you start.
What I didn't expect is that it checks your if you're authenticated too, not just the installed tools. So it catches the "everything is installed but nothing works" kind of problem as well. Pretty neat!
Onboarding Buddy status: the machine is ready. Next week I create the project with a single line.
